BOOKING FLIGHTS
Here are a few things I’d like to point out to you.
When you’ve typed in your flight search what pops up may look a little confusing… but help is on the way!
Click “help with this page”.
The helpful hints will take out all the guesswork.
Typically, the cheaper the flight, the longer it takes to get there.
Make sure you look at the total travel time and decide if the savings are worth it.
To make sure you have the very best price – click on “metasearch”. It will search all other websites for the best price. You can book directly from there.
Another very important tip!
You can find fares that cost $60 to $200 less…
BUT they have you take 2 or more planes AND change airlines.
You NEVER want to switch to another airline unless it is in the same terminal AND they will transfer your luggage for you.
Otherwise, you’ll have to retrieve your luggage from baggage claim then go outside the building, hop a bus to another terminal and go through security again.
You need at least 2 ½ to 3 hours between flights or you’ll take the chance of missing your connection.
The more stops you have to make, the higher your chances are of delays and missed flights!
Once you have selected the flight you want, you can then choose your seat.
Exit rows and bulk head seats are not assigned until the day of the flight.
That’s because you have to meet certain criteria to sit in the exit row and the bulk heads are saved for passengers with disabilities.
Keep in mind the airline may change the type of airplane at any time.
It’s a good idea to call the airline a few days before you leave to make sure you still have the same seats you selected.
There’s a link to yellowpages.com on my main web page.
As your finishing your reservation you’ll be asked if you have a meal preference. Although domestic flights no longer serve hot meals, international flights still do, so that’s why that option is still there.
After you pay for the ticket you’ll receive an email confirmation.
24 hours before the flight you can check in online and print your boarding pass. Go to the airlines’ website and type in your confirmation number.
Before you leave for the airport, go to that same website and check the flight status to make sure your flight is running on time.
Check out my travel tips and learn “how to ease through security”.
Make sure you also check out “311” so you know how to pack your toiletries.
Airlines are charging for a 2nd checked bag now. Click on “great packing tips” so you can learn how to fit the most amount of clothes in the least amount of luggage.
I hope these helpful hints will enable you to sit back, relax and FINALLY enjoy your flight!
